March 2009

What a fun month! We got to go to Oklahoma to see our friends and family and Matt & Abigail got to spend some extra time with his parents since he was on Spring Break. Then, the girls (Lisa, Abigail & Claire) got to go to San Diego. Mom had a work conference so she thought it would be a great opportunity to visit Aunt Theresa, Uncle Bill, Cyndie and Matt. G-Daddy met us there to help out with the girls while Mom was at the conference. Claire is already a great traveller and Abigail officially has her own frequent flyer number (isn't that insane!). We got to see Shamu, it was fun but Abigail didn't think it was very nice for Shamu to splash her so much (next time we probably won't sit in the soak zone). She decided to forgive Shamu for being "not nice" and then spent a significant amount of time talking to him through the glass. She loved it. We got to see Coronado Island and play on the beach and got to see seals close up at Seal Beach. Both of the girls got spoiled rotten and loved every minute of it. The girls are both growing like little weeds. Claire is sitting up on her own now and has discovered her voice....she was making high-pitched squeals constantly for a few days and has now moved onto da-da-da-da-da and ma-ma-ma-ma-ma. She doesn't really get what it means yet but it does feel good to hear it none-the-less. She is very proud of her two bottom teeth and gives this huge open-mouth smile to anyone who looks at her. She is the sweetest, happiest, good-natured baby (Matt & I thank our stars everyday). She is a master of scooting and although she's not crawling she can easily navigate from one end of the room to the other. She is enjoying her baby food and now is also enjoying waking mom and dad up for a 0200 snack (its quite hard to re-adjust to middle of the night feedings after we got used to sleeping through the night consistently). Abigail is in a pretend phase and is frequently changing roles and re-assigning identities. Today, she was Mommy and I got to be Abigail and Daddy was baby. She is very nurturing and read us both a book and tried to wash our faces and put us to bed. She officially has a boyfriend at school, Carter, who she talks about on a regular basis and proudly tells us that she likes to hold his hand. At school, their cots for naps are near each other and their teacher says they whisper to each other until they both fall asleep. She likes to do everything herself and is quick to move her step stool to wherever the action is so she can help. She is a great table-setter and always helps unload the dishwasher. She got taken off cookie-baking duty because she was eating more dough than was making it to the pan. There's a new adventure every day and Matt & I are enjoying every minute of it.
